
On Thursday November 06, 2025 the results of Tesla shareholders voting on whether Elon Musk should receive a $1 trillion pay package, will be announced. This story caught my attention because in my naivety, I was chuckling at myself at the thought of Tesla’s payroll processing, paying out $1 trillion over the course of 52 weeks. Frankly the amount is absurd. But not so for the world’s richest man.
One of the main headlines floating around right now is that if Tesla doesn’t pay Musk the $1 trillion package then he may leave the company. The $1 trillion package is broken up into “trenches.” Musk getting paid this money is dependent on him growing Tesla’s market capitalization, which at the publishing of this article is sitting at around $1.4 trillion. The goal is to get it to $8.5 trillion. An $8.5 trillion market capitalization outpaces major tech companies including Amazon, Meta, Alphabet (Google), Apple, Microsoft, and Nvidia.
