There are so many thoughts to gather. My new year started with a phone call. My uncle called and gave me a save-the-date. I’m considerate and I like the idea of being there for those who have been there for me; but, here I am again. And the messed up part is even though I’m here again, it’s different this time… I just received the revelation. Similar circumstances, different excuses-because I didn’t do something I was supposed to do previously. But if you take it a step deeper, it’s also an answered prayer.
I was thinking and praying about the experience I have where I can feel as though I am several steps ahead of-society frankly. I believe there is some truth to that as a black man. Your average black guy who graduated college with a degree is exposed to the same economic pressures as anyone else with the addition of being predisposed to prejudice. Now certainly this is circumstantial but with there only being an objectively small number of employers in america specifically if not throughout the world, in comparison to the number of employees, not only is conventional opportunity not abundant in the modern day, it’s also degraded by technological advancement, bias, federal, local, and corporate and social politics, and more. All of that to say I would not be surprised if I am a few steps ahead experientially.
