The Difficulty of Outgrowing Relationships

Any close relationship that I have removed myself from has in most cases been a byproduct of the topic of this article. Growth and or forward progression is the natural flow of life. No matter how much you like or dislike it, life moves forward. If you’re progressively inclined, you’re likely interested in seeing the progression of life happen faster. If you are conservatively inclined, you are likely interested in seeing the progression of life happen slower. No matter what, however, life will move forward with or without you at a pace you like or dislike.

Admittedly, I am of the camp of progress happening at a slower pace. I don’t think all progress is good or necessary, and I enjoy at least flirting with the fantasy of things staying the same. That said, one place where things absolutely can’t and shouldn’t stay the same, is in your relationships. Relationships can’t stay the same because people constantly change. You can do the exact same thing every day for the majority of your life, and you will not be the same person by the end of it. If your mind doesn’t change your body will. As your environment and circumstances evolve, you are required to change to respond to those things accordingly. Change is inevitable for most if not all living things.
