Since the beginning of time, the natural state of human beings has been one without clothes. Clothing came after human beings had the revelation of nudity:

When the woman saw that the fruit of the tree was good for food and pleasing to the eye, and also desirable for gaining wisdom, she took some and ate it. She also gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate it. Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they realized they were naked; so they sewed fig leaves together and made coverings for themselves.

Genesis 3:6-7

Now, I love clothes as much as the next person, especially in the winter; However, what if I told you that there were benefits to wearing them less often? Living a minimal clothing lifestyle can promote mental, physical, and emotional health.

Improved Self-Esteem

There can be an inherent sense of shame associated with one’s natural state. Aside from the pragmatic purposes of wearing clothes, sometimes we cover up our physical bodies to protect our emotional selves.

Getting comfortable with being in your natural state can improve your self-confidence. When you are accepting of yourself, you put yourself in a position to be accepted by others. We can get so caught up with the fear of being judged to the point that we will diminish our individuality.

Acclimating to your natural state can help you become more secure in who you are. Positive self-esteem comes from feeling good about yourself, knowing you are supported, and not being bashful about who you are.

When you are naked you are forced to face yourself, literally. This is called vulnerability. Humans do not like feeling vulnerable because we fear rejection. Self-esteem improves when one learns how to stop rejecting themselves.

By being nude, you put yourself in a position where you have to make a decision about yourself. Do you like who you see? If so amazing! If not, why? What mental blocks are keeping you from accepting yourself?

When God spoke to Adam and Eve after they ate the forbidden fruit and made clothes for themselves, he asked them: Who told you that you were naked? Your mind can place deficiencies on you that are not there. Being naked is not exclusively about being exposed. Get passed your fears of the results that may or may not come from being vulnerable, and inhabit a space of self-acceptance regardless of positive or negative opinion. Be intimate with yourself.

Better Sleep

Naked sleep is better sleep. Did you know that the way you sleep can have negative impacts on the quality of your sleep? In a university study, evidence was found correlating feelings of insomnia with poorly regulated body temperature while sleeping.

When your body is uncomfortable, you are uncomfortable. Sleeping naked will allow your body to regulate its temperature better, which will amount to a deeper, and therefore better quality of sleep.

Our bodies do not like to be hot, especially around bedtime. You have probably experienced this firsthand: tossing and turning because the room is too hot, and you cannot seem to find the right sleeping position because you are uncomfortable. Agitation during bedtime can have a drastic negative impact on your sleep.

Sleeping in a cool environment not only helps you sleep better, but it also has a multitude of other health benefits that include:

– Anti-aging

– Increased melatonin levels

– Weight loss

– Enhanced mood

– Reduced stress

Sleeping while naked will improve your body temperature regulation allowing your body to cool down during bedtime. Having a lower body temperature during sleep will help you fall asleep quicker and easier; and it will give you a better quality of sleep.

In addition to reaping all of the benefits that come from having a great night of sleep, sleeping naked can also help you take advantage of the health improvements associated with sleeping in cooler conditions.

A stronger Immune System

Let’s talk about tanning! Everyone loves the golden sheen that comes from spending the perfect amount of time exposed to direct sunlight. Aside from an immaculate glow, exposure to sunlight also increases the amount of vitamin D in one’s body.

Vitamin D is known for being helpful as it relates to absorbing calcium in our bodies. Calcium is essential because it helps you build and maintain strong bones. Your cardiovascular, muscular, and nervous systems all also benefit from having calcium.

Studies show that Vitamin D can also help reduce the risk of diabetes, muscle and bone pain, and certain cancers including breast, colon, and prostate. Being in your natural state outside will increase your body’s exposure to sunlight thus increasing your Vitamin D intake.

Improved Sex Life

Being naked can improve your sex life. No brainer right, I mean you cannot have sex with your clothes ON. While nudity Is a natural fact about sex, I want to talk about the part of sex that is not so obvious, Oxytocin.

Oxytocin is a hormone that your body releases specifically when physical contact is taking place. The purpose of Oxytocin is to strengthen the bond between people. Oxytocin also plays a key role in your reproductive health.

In the brain, oxytocin is a chemical messenger that influences behaviors like sexual arousal, recognition, trust, and anxiety. When you are physically stimulated your cells get excited which causes oxytocin to be released in your bloodstream. For this reason, oxytocin is also referred to as the “Cuddle Hormone.”

Having greater physical connection with a sexual partner can improve your overall experience together. Sex may be the act of intimacy, but oxytocin is the real deal. Cuddling, holding hands, hugging, kissing, and everything in between is what your oxytocin uses as a foundation to build a strong intimate connection with people.

Being naked is about more than perverse proclivities. It can be the missing key you need to start living a more fulfilled life. Health is wealth on all levels: mentally, emotionally, spiritually, and physically. Our bodies are temples and we should be doing constant maintenance on them.

Being in your natural state will improve your self-confidence, sleep life, sex life, and overall physical health. These benefits are too good to be passing up on. Start incorporating more skin time in your daily life where comfortable.

You are fearfully and wonderfully made. Do not allow your limiting beliefs to prevent you from living a more fruitful life.
